Global Business Management ESSCA programme

In today’s global business landscape, employers are increasingly looking for graduates with the technical expertise and skills to manage projects in multinational business environments effectively.

The MSc in Global Business Management will equip you with the knowledge and skills to become an innovative professional manager with a global vision.

We will help you develop awareness of the challenges posed by global disruptions in geopolitics, technology, and ecology, emphasizing critical thinking and proactive risk management.

You will engage in real-world projects, collaborating with companies that are shaping the future of global industry, and participate in experiential learning opportunities to enhance your understanding of today's complex international business environment.

The programme includes:

  • 435 hours of on-site teaching when handling 2 semesters in Paris* and a three-part seminar throughout the course: "Methodology for writing your master's Thesis"
  • A master’s thesis
  • A 4 to 6 month internship

*One semester can be completed in one of the IBSA alliance partner schools

Course structure

1st semester

Global Strategic Analysis

This module deals with strategy-making and execution. It addresses global business issues and deals with the question of what managers must do to make a company a winner in the global business environment.

Using the case method and other approaches, the module discusses the managerial tasks involved in the processes of analysing, crafting, selecting, and executing international corporate strategies.

Multinational Financial Management

The module establishes the theoretical and practical foundations for efficient financial decision-making in a global context. 

The learning experience will include critical, intellectual, and independent research, through in-class learning, group work and independent research.

Global Marketing Strategies

The module's learning outcomes entail giving students a view of Marketing applied for international marketing decision making at an advanced level.

The learning experience will stimulate critical and intellectual skills, through class learning, group work and independent research.

Business Analytics

Taking into account the modern data-driven economy, the business analysis becomes to be a must-have requirement for all kinds of enterprises. This course covers all steps of data processing and shows the essential aspects of descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.

Python and SAS are used for the intro to supervised and unsupervised learning and PowerBI for data visualisation. The ability to use modern business analysis techniques as well as critical thinking and decision-making are defined as the course outputs.

Human Resource Management in the Global Environment

The module will explore conceptual framework of International Human Resource Management (HRM) in the context of the global business environment and the policies of organisations for the management of people. The issues involved in managing international human resources strategically will be explored.

In addition, the links between HR practices and organisational performance will be reviewed. Ideas of best practice in managing people internationally will also be analysed.

2nd semester

Introductions to Challenges of Risk Management

This foundational course provides students with a fundamental grasp of risk management, with a focus on geopolitical, financial, economic, environmental, and data-driven threats.

It prepares students for advanced courses in sustainable governance, business innovation, digital security, international trade, and data intelligence, promoting a comprehensive approach to tackling today's global concerns.

Critical Thinking in Sustainable Business Risk Management (2 Modules)

Ethics, Equity, and Economy: A Holistic Approach to Sustainable Governance and Business Practices

This course takes a close look at how corporate governance addresses important global concerns in four critical areas: general artificial intelligence, supply chain sustainability, the creation of sustainable cities, and the fight against fake news on social media. Participants will investigate successful solutions for ethical management and regulatory compliance, providing them with the knowledge needed to drive enterprises toward positive societal impact.

Creative Dynamics and Agile Methodologies: Transforming Global Business and Innovation

This course teaches key skills for success in global industries, including cross-cultural management, global leadership, change and innovation management, entrepreneurial attitude, creativity, lean startup, agile techniques, and sustainable innovation, through theory, exercises, and case studies. Participants will learn how to lead diverse teams, stimulate creativity, and integrate sustainability concepts into business strategy, preparing them for success in today's fast-paced global industry.

Risk Management in Digital Transformation (2 Modules)

Mastering Data Intelligence: Navigating from Big Data to Predictive Business Insights
