Webinar description

Fake news attacks, particularly on social media, are becoming an increasingly serious concern for organizations. Recent research on organizational responses to these attacks focuses on prebunking and debunking strategies. These include equipping individuals with tools to detect fake news, promoting impartial information sources, and enhancing the accuracy of information through third-party verification and fact-checking. While these approaches emphasize the importance of facts over emotions, the emotional aspect remains critical in the spread of fake news and is still underexplored in response strategies.

In this webinar, we aim to shed light on the role of emotions in countering fake news and explore how leveraging emotions can lead to more effective responses to disinformation, particularly in areas like vaccination.

Marie JOACHIM is the author of the report “Fighting Fake News: Online Disinformation in Covid Times” published in 2022.
