Behavioral and Experimental Lab
The Behavioral and Experimental Lab (BEL) is ESSCA’s interdisciplinary research lab bringing together researchers from Economics, Marketing, Finance, and related management disciplines to study decision-making in markets, organisations, and society. Our work aims for academic excellence through publication in leading peer-reviewed outlets while generating evidence with practical relevance for business and public policy.
Facilities
BEL includes a dedicated laboratory on the Lyon campus with 22 networked workstations and specialised equipment for behavioral measurement. This includes eye tracking (to capture visual attention and areas of interest) and physiological sensors (for example, skin conductance and pulse) to help measure emotional and attentional responses to stimuli.
BEL also operates a mobile lab that can be deployed across ESSCA campuses or in field settings (for example, public transport, shopping centers, pop-up test shops).
The management of the facilities are coordinated by a dedicated lab manager who supports the full experimental workflow, including study programming, session coordination, participant logistics, and data preparation for scientific analysis, in close collaboration with faculty researchers.
