Creating and Sharing New Knowledge
In addition to educating and training (future) young managers and participating in the development of its business environment, the creation of original knowledge is one of ESSCA’s core missions.
ESSCA’s research, conducted within the CREDO (Centre de Recherche et d’Etudes de l’Ouest en Gestion des Entreprises) by a research oriented faculty (44 PhDs) aims at reinforcing the school's distinction in six fields of expertise: banking and finance, automotive distribution and services, social and solidarity economics, entrepreneurship, European integration, and logistics and commercial strategy.
The quality of ESSCA’s research is illustrated by the publication of its results in top level academic journals. Rarely created ex nihilo, this new knowledge is most often based on the collection of data from corporate players and it is naturally returned to them in the form of contributions in professional or general publications or through consulting and audit activities. Finally, and this is one of the most motivating, yet complex mission for a teacher-RESEARCHER, the next step is to share this newly created knowledge with students. The TEACHING side and pedagogical innovation then take the lead with the hope that this new knowledge will prove to be a positive contribution to organizations by allowing to make better decisions.
This willingness to engage in research that does not operate in a vacuum is symbolic of the work conducted within CREDO-ESSCA, whose members are open to the world and attentive to their environment.
