A Timeline of ESSCA 


 

    

A 100 year old institution, ESSCA ranks amongst the top business schools in France due to the strong and innovative curriculum offered.

 

 Key dates

 

1909 :

The Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de l’Ouest, Paul BAUGAS, founds the "Ecole Supérieure de Commerce d’Angers”.

1938 :

Creation of ESSCA’s Alumni Association (“Association du réseau des diplômés de l’ESSCA”).

1940 :

Move to premises at the Rue Merlet de la Boulaye.

1954 :

The school’s programmes now cover three years.

1967 :

ESSCA becomes an association under the Law of 1901 and a founding member of FESIC.

1969 :

ESSCA moves to its new premises on the Belle Beille campus.

The school’s programmes now cover four years.

1975 :

ESSCA receives State accreditation.

1977 :

ESSCA is accepted into the “Conférence des Grandes Ecoles”.

1978 :

Launch of the first “work and studies” programme.

1980 :

ESSCA’s diplomas are approved by the State.

1984 :

The ESSCA project is a turning point in the School’s life.

A true corporate project, it upholds the School’s values and prepares for its future development.

1988 :

Delivery of the Main Building and 170 students now admissible per year.

1993 :

ESSCA is present for the first time in the Paris area and 315 students can now be admitted per year. A unit is created in Budapest.

2001 :

Inauguration of a new 2,500 m² building on the Angers site.

Launch of the ESSCA continuing education diploma programme in Paris and creation of a digital campus.

2003 :

Inauguration of new premises in Budapest.

2004 :

The first students to complete the five year programme graduate.  Master level approval. ESSCA creates its Parisian site at La Défense in the Leonard Da Vinci campus.

2006 :

ESSCA is the first French business school to receive EPAS accreditation from the EFMD. Inauguration of a site in Shanghai.

2007 :

Significant increase in admissions – from 350 to 420 students.

2008 :

Greater selectivity with 5,478 students registered to sit the first year admission examination. 15th year of presence in Budapest and inauguration of new premises.

 

2009 :

ESSCA’s 100th anniversary. Construction of a 4,400 m² building on the Angers site
