The COLIBRI vehicle project received the grand prize for its ingenuity, creativity and innovation (at the Ecole des Mines in Nantes). |
The "Id4forcar" competitiveness hub, whose mission is to promote innovation throughout the automotive sector, organised the first edition of the "Dream4forcar" competition this year. This contest, supported by PSA Peugeot Citroën and industrials in the southwestern region, was open to students from regional engineering, business and design schools and was based on an innovative concept: a team imperatively composed of students in technology, marketing and design was to develop a concept for an automobile that took into account technical requirements defined in the specifications the jury established.
This year, the competition's theme was a urban utility vehicle: "Imagine the Deliveryman of Tomorrow and his Vehicle in an Urban Setting".
Within a team composed of nine students from ESTACA of Laval (3) and the School of Design of Nantes (3), Matthieu Bellier-Pottier, Olivia Lorho and Delphine Hubert, Master 1 students at ESSCA (3), presented their "Colibri" project: "Your Parcel on Wings" in partnership with the Marketing Department (Laurent Tournois, former professor), and the Distribution and Automobile Services Chair (Emmanuelle Dutertre, Professor).
Based on an analysis of needs conducted by the marketers, the designers worked on a stylistic expression before entrusting the technical realisation of the project to the engineers. The team, which appointed a project leader and representative for each field, experimented with the realisation of a project that combined professional work methods and cultural backgrounds that were often different over a period of five months.
In addition to the supervision of a professor from each school, the students benefited from the expert advice of Yves Dubreuil, Director of the Twingo project at Renault. Using his professional experience, the former Project Leader raised the students' awareness on innovation processes and shared his experience in project management.
Finally, the winning team will benefit from the attendance of the iD4forCAR unit at the 2010 Automobile Fair next October to present its project in the form of a model to businesses, the media and the public..
