The French FFSU Squash Champion: a first at ESSCA!

Our congratulations go to Léa Moineau (second year student) who won ESSCA's first  ever national university prize at the Hermine Squash Centre in Rennes!

Along with Mathieu Fort (SUAPS Nantes) and Thomas Reboul (ASU Le Mans), she played in an outstanding finale (3/0) against the STAPS of Marseille team, despite the participation of France's Number Four player, Célia Allamargot, and the team was crowned the 2010 FFSU Champions in Squash. This magnificent victory of the Pays de la Loire team follows their win at the Championnat d'Académie where the team's cohesion and teamwork prevailed.

In the individual ranking, Léa finished fifth after a close match, losing the decisive quarter final (3/1) against Laura Pomportes, who comes in sixth in France.
After a difficult first year that deprived her of the Ministry of Sport's "high level athlete" status, her second year at ESSCA allowed Léa to adjust to her new category (senior) and the demands of training, while fulfilling her academic requirements.

She is now working on plans to attend one of the most prestigious universities (Dartmouth, Wharton ...) on the East Coast after her third year of studies to play the famous Ivy League Championship!

But until then, why not try for the national university title to access one of the top ten spots in the federal senior classification?

Two other players also honourably represented ESSCA's colours:
- Gatien Joly (second year student), who was one step short of making the Coupe de France podium
- Paul Mahuzier (Master 1 student), who finished fifth after losing against Gatien in the quarter final.

Congratulations! ESSCA thanks these students for honouring ESSCA with these remarkable achievements!
