ESSCA participates in Expo 2010 in Shanghai

Mot de bienvenue à CEIBS de Wei SHEN, professeur à l'ESSCA

In the context of the "European Union in the World" programme held at the European Union's Pavilion at Shanghai's 2010 Universal Exhibition, ESSCA coordinated a three-day "EU Model" simulation with the European Commission, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and Fudan University.

What is the "EU Model"?
The "EU Model" is a simulation of the decision-making process within the European Union
. The objective of this event is to raise awareness on the work of the European Union and how laws are in fact enacted. This very intense role-playing game allows participants to fully grasp the features of the system, along with its advantages and disdavantages. Each participant was given a role to play with conviction and enthusiasm, and represented either a member of the Council, Parliament or Commission. Also, external groups, such as the media and lobbyists, attempted to influence the participants' decision-making. The start point for negotiations was a bill submitted by the Commission to limit CO2 emissions from cars to fight climate change.

The participants in this simulation were: students from ESSCA Shanghai, the CEIBS, Fudan University (a new ESSCA partner), the China EU School of Law (Beijing) and former graduates of Erasmus Mundus programmes. A total of 80 individuals participated. The simulation covered three days, May 10, 11 and 12, 2010, with a full agenda of training, conferences and meetings
